What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free is a complete notes app with up to 50 notes in one notebook and an hour of dictation a day in 50+ languages. It's free forever, not a trial.
Pro is for people who dictate every day. It adds unlimited notes, notebooks and dictation, dictation that keeps going in the background, password-protected notes, editing by voice, custom voice commands, sharing, images in notes and dictation clean-up options. See the full comparison.
Which browsers and devices does Dictanote work on?
Dictanote runs in your browser, so there's nothing to download. Dictation works in Chrome and Edge on Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS, in Chrome on Android, and in Safari 26 or later on Mac, iPhone and iPad. It doesn't work in Firefox or Brave.
You can also install Dictanote as an app on your computer or phone's home screen. One subscription covers every device you sign in on.
Which languages can I dictate in?
More than 50 languages and their regional variants, including English, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese. Built-in voice commands (like “new line” and “period”) work in 30 of them.
Do the people I share with need Pro?
No. You need Pro to share a note or notebook, but anyone you invite can open and edit it on the Free plan. You can share with up to 10 people at a time.

Is there a free trial?
The Free plan is yours for as long as you like, no credit card needed, so you can try Dictanote before paying anything. When you upgrade, the 30-day money-back guarantee means you can try every Pro feature risk-free.
How does the money-back guarantee work?
If Dictanote Pro isn't right for you, email support@dictanote.co within 30 days of your purchase and we'll refund you in full. For renewals, if you haven't used Dictanote since the renewal, you can ask for a full refund within 30 days of the renewal date. See our refund policy.
How do I pay?
- Card: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and most other cards, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay, processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- PayPal: upgrade with PayPal here.
Can I switch between monthly and yearly?
Yes. Yearly works out to $5 a month instead of $8. To switch, email support@dictanote.co and we'll move you over.
How do I cancel?
Go to Account settings and click Cancel subscription. There are no cancellation fees. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for, then your account moves to the Free plan.
What happens to my notes if I cancel?
Nothing is deleted. All your notes, notebooks and images stay in your account, and your saved voice commands are kept for when you come back. On the Free plan you just can't create new notebooks, add new images, lock more notes or use the other Pro features. If you have more than 50 notes you keep and can edit all of them, but can't add new ones until you're back under 50. Notes you already locked stay locked, and you can always unlock them.
Can I get an invoice with my company or VAT details?
Yes. After upgrading, email support@dictanote.co with the name, address and VAT number you need on the invoice and we'll send you one.

What happens to my voice and my notes?
Dictation runs through your browser's built-in speech recognition, so we never receive or store your audio. Your notes are stored on our servers so they can sync between your devices, and with Pro you can lock sensitive notes with a password. We never sell your data or show you ads. Can I export my notes?
Yes, on any plan. Download any note as a PDF, HTML or text file.
