YouTube Summary with AI for teachers
How classes use it
- Review a lesson video. After watching, students click Summarize to get the key points, then ask the AI follow-up questions about anything they missed.
- Read along. The timestamped transcript sits beside the video. Clicking a line jumps the video to that moment, which helps students find the part they need and those still learning the language.
- Summaries in their own language. Students can have the summary written in any of 18 languages, whatever language the video is in.
- Notes with timestamps. One click copies the whole transcript, with timestamps, into notes or a doc.
- Your own instructions. In Settings, the prompt can be changed to ask for quiz questions, a glossary or a study guide instead of a summary.

Good to know
- An AI account. The summary is written by the AI chat site the student picks: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Mistral or Grok. Each site has its own age requirements and terms, so check them against your school’s policy. School Google accounts may need an admin to turn on Gemini, and ChatGPT can be used without signing in.
- Privacy. There’s no account with us. The transcript goes straight from YouTube to the AI the student chose, and never passes through our servers.
- Captions. The transcript comes from the video’s captions, including YouTube’s auto-generated ones. A video without captions can’t be summarized.
- Free. No ads, no paid plan and no limit on summaries. The AI site’s own usage limits still apply.
