What’s new
Transcripts are back. For a while YouTube blocked the way we loaded transcripts, so from v1.21 the extension only worked with Gemini, which reads the video from its URL. Since v1.24 the transcript panel is back, and summaries work with ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Mistral and Grok again.
v1.29 October 12, 2026
- Fixed the keyboard shortcut, and the panel now appears in YouTube tabs that were already open when the extension installed or updated.
- The AI chat opens in the same window as your video and comes to the front.
- Custom prompts saved before v1.24 that left out the transcript are reset to the default, so every AI receives the transcript.

- New keyboard shortcut:
Ctrl+Shift+S(⌘+Shift+Son Mac) summarizes the current video with your default AI. Settings shows the current shortcut and lets you change it. - Fixed Grok clearing the prompt before it was sent.

- The extension is now available in Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Italian.

- Renamed to YouTube Summary with AI.
- ChatGPT, Claude, Mistral and Grok work again alongside Gemini. Claude now opens a new chat.
- Redesigned Settings page, with dark mode.
- Copying the transcript shows a tick when it’s done. The selected caption language is listed first.
- Fixed timestamps on videos over an hour long, jump to current time at the end of a video, and transcripts from the previous video showing after you switch videos.
- Removed the web page and PDF summarizer to keep the extension focused on YouTube.

- The transcript panel is back: read the timestamped transcript beside the video, click any line to jump to that moment, and copy it as plain text or Markdown.
- Summarize with ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Mistral or Grok again.

- Google Gemini is now the default model.
- Prompt now contains the URL, so Gemini can summarize directly from YouTube URLs.
- In Settings, you can configure which Google account to use if you are logged in with multiple accounts. At the time of writing, YouTube integration with Gemini is available in all accounts except Workspace accounts.
