I am also having this problem.
Open / Close Brace and Bracket work normally, but Open or Close Parentheses almost always fails. I have tried different pronunciations (parenthesis vs parentheses, etc.) but without success.
Below I will read the following; {} () []
{ } open parentheses close parentheses [ ]

No matter what I try I can't invoke open parentheses here or my website nowhere.

The default voice command is for open parenthesis (https://dictanote.co/voicein/…)
Go to the Voice In Options page
Scroll down to voice commands section and add the voice command
open parentheses => (
